.This “free” day was the brainchild of Helena, the superintendent of Paul Pogue School of Hairdressing and founder of the “free services to the needy program” in our school. It was her quest to bring this world of injustice and the shameless neglect of the homeless and needy one head closer to being a little more just. One look at Helena was enough to identify her as the originator of this type of education. This is the story of one woman's fight against discrimination towards the homeless and needy by offering hair care and grooming services FREE of charge to all in need. Only to be bashed down by government regulations and the uncaring.
Flabbermouth is my word for ‘foot in mouth’ moments that leave one ‘flabbergasted’. These are true events that have happened in my life over the last 50 years. I hope you enjoy reading them and at least get a chuckle. In some cases those who know me personally these may bring back a memory or two.

Christine has written poetry from a very early age, as described in her book, " A Hairdresser's Diary." In response to her fans of that book, Chris has agreed to publish her book of poetry.
THIS NEW BOOK IS ABOUT MY LIFE WITH CHRONIC PAIN INCLUDING STORIES OF OTHERS AND THEIR JOURNEY IN PAIN.
So on my way from my doctors office that day I stopped at Walmart where I found just what I NEEDED a white tee shirt, brushes and some fabric paint. When I went home, I started searching for pictures I would love to paint, because I could draw, I knew I would be able to find something. Soon I found some butterflies I thought would work. I was impressed with the outcome and the sparkle paint added a nice shine to the butterfly wings. I showed it to a couple friends and Sharon being one of them wanted to buy it. but I didn't want to sell it because even though I liked it I still thought it not good enough to sell. Sharon instead of giving me money bought me another shirt and a few more paints. She had a new painted tee and I had a new business. Now I was on a roll.
Before long I had a small area in my downstairs that had nighties, sweatshirts, tee-shirts, hoodies and denim jackets ready for the Christmas sale at the local school.
I had many orders and sold more than half my stock that day plus the interest of a clothing designer out of Brantford. She wanted to offer her items with something special on them and felt I could give her what she needed. I was right!
It was a summer fun thing when I set up painting courses for the kids in the neighborhood. They learned to paint on shirts, school bags. pencil holders, we even painted on cloths that had stains so the stain could not be seen. We had a great time making things for Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Halloween, Christmas and when done the kids wanted more. I even had some of the moms want to join but I made this a kids only class as they had more fun.
